Surviving the Holidays - Travel Anxiety & Motion Sickness

December 17, 2018

For a lot of people, Christmas means travelling. For many of these folks it's exciting, but for some, it's a daunting and sometimes terrifying experience. Homeopathy can help you manage this anxiety, as well as motion sickness, so that your travels may be much more enjoyable!

Here are a few remedies that can be useful for travel anxiety:

Gelsemium:

This is useful for anticipatory anxiety, specifically if you have diarrhea, your mouth may feel numb and you have trouble thinking because you feel somewhat "numb" mentally.

Argentum Nitricum:

This remedy is helpful for people that are more impulsive.  The travel anxiety makes them want to walk around to feel better.  These people often have a fear of heights and crave sugary treats.

Aconite:

Aconite is useful when travel anxiety turns into outright panic.  The person needing aconite often feels they are literally facing death and they are restless with this extreme fear.

Here area few remedies that can be helpful for motion sickness:

Cocculus:

This is the most common remedy for motion sickness.  The person needing this remedy will have dizziness, waves of nausea with belching, and an empty feeling in the stomach with a metallic taste in the mouth.  The nausea is made worse with the smell and even the sight of food. Getting up makes the dizziness and nausea worse, as does fresh air. They need to lie down to prevent vomiting. They feel anxious, dazed and confused.

Nux Vomica:

Motion sickness with great irritability and impatience. There is continual nausea and vomiting which can feel like food poisoning. They produce excessive amounts of saliva and have a hard time vomiting.

Staphysagria:

This person is very irritable and indignant when they are experiencing motion sickness. They don't want to be touched or comforted. They do not have any strong symptoms although they can have a colicky stomach ache.

Tabacum:

Intense nausea, with weakness, profuse salivation and cold sweating. The face is white as a sheet, and they feel utterly wretched. The nausea is better for fresh air, but it may make them feel more dizzy.

Please remember to consult with a licensed homeopath to help you choose an appropriate remedy, potency and frequency of dosage.
