My Tummy Hurts - Childhood Anxiety
The 2018 Children’s Mental Health Report concludes that “at some point, anxiety affects 30% of children and adolescents, yet 80% never get help.”
“Untreated anxiety disorders are linked to depression, school failure and a two-fold increase in risk for substance use disorder,” the report says. It’s what is known as “a gateway disorder.” These are some pretty staggering statistics!
Children don't typically understand what anxiety feels like or how to verbally express it so it often sounds like "My tummy hurts" or "My head hurts" or "My legs hurt" but it can also manifest as anger, stubbornness and shyness. It's often hard to pinpoint so you should dig a little deeper to try to understand what your child is feeling and when.
The good news is, there is a lot of things that can help childhood anxiety, one of which is homeopathy. A large part of my practice is children with anxiety and it is one of my biggest passions. I am always so thrilled when families come back reporting big changes!
