Homeopathy for a Pinched Nerve

A pinched nerve occurs when there is too much pressure on a nerve from the surrounding tissues.  This can cause pain, numbness, weakness or tingling.  This can happen in all areas of your body but there are a number of remedies that can help.  

 

Below is a list of remedies commonly used to relieve pinched nerves. Please remember to seek the advice of a licensed Homeopath to help choose the appropriate remedy.

 

Belladonna:

This remedy is useful for severe nerve pain which appears and disappears suddenly.  The pain is throbbing, cutting, shooting.  The pain is accompanied by heat and bright redness and are made worse with touch or noise.

 

Chamomilla:

Chamomilla is helpful for unbearable pain with numbness. The person needing Chamomilla is often irritable and angry.

 

Colocynthis:

Used for sciatic nerve pain where the pain is shooting down the back of the leg from the hip like lightening.  It is especially hedpfulwhen the pain is on the left side.  Heat and pressure brings relief, where motion makes it worse.

 

Hypericum:

This remedy is known as the Arnica of the nerves and is especially effective after injury to the nerves.  The pain is often tingling, burning and numbness.  It is used with great success for traumatic neuralgia and neuritis.

 

Magnesium Phos:

This remedy is one of the best remedies for nerve pain that is relieved by warmth.  The pains are unbearable and the part affected is often numb.
