Anxiety in Dogs

October 9, 2019

Sometimes we notice that our dogs are dealing with anxiety.  Whether it’s from being left alone, during thunderstorms or fireworks, change in homes etc.  Thankfully there are a number of Homeopathic remedies that can help.

The remedies listed below are helpful in acute situations but if your dog experiences chronic anxiety, you should see the advice of a Homeopath to help you treat them

Aconite:

Fear and restlessness after a shocking or traumatic event.

Argentum Nitricum:

For anticipatory anxiety often with trembling and diarrhea.

Belladonna:

Extreme fear with dilated pupils and aggressive behaviour.  Picture an animal trapped in a corner or an animal carrier.

Ignatia:

Oversensitive, muscle twitches and moodiness.  Typically following a grief, loss or rehoming.  There’s lots of whining and sighing from the animal.

Nux Vomica:

These animals are ofter the “boss” of the house.  They are impatient, fearful and overly sensitive.  Thy tend to bully other animals but a thunderstorm scares them.

Phosphorus:

Helpful for dogs that are scared by thunderstorms, fireworks or gunshots, in the moment.

Staphysagria:

This remedy is good for animals that are typically gentle but have angry or fearful outbursts.
